fence hopper is right. it ain't all about the bull, its all about finding the balance.....an finding a dogs calling

Hi,

Never seen the need to introduce Bull blood to the strain of a lurcher,

although there is not a true lurcher ,I like to think the Collie cross is the true ( LURCHER )ie, all rounder day and night.

If you want to add such things to a lurcher you just attract attention ie,

(DEVIL DOGS) As I think you would agree, this is seen more and more in every day papers.!!Again my opinion.

Christ !!!!! (excuse the phrase) I was out a walk the other day (Also with a few others from the site) and saw some youngsters out with there TYSON'S and REX'S ,(bad boy dogs) and so on, there dogs were chasing cows!!!

Now I understand all Bull men if not most dog men would hang there head in shame if this had to happen to them !!!!!!!! But again it seams to be a status thing for youngsters any way, if the dog looks like a machine it acts like a machine!!!!

Yes true without training and proper entering as I'm sure you will agree it will be stone wall daft ,maybe bite a wean!!!!(Who know it's good to speculate)

But the moto seams to be :-

(Get the Bull breed, f**k the training ,entering and so on ,just get the dog and it will know it's job cause its a Bull cross)

Come on now !!! When I asked "why are you allowing this to happen your just going to bring attention to yourselves if not more "

An even younger lad stepped up and said "What you on about? I Can't wait till my dogs up so it can do it to "

Now don't go down the road they don't feel pain, as all things feel pain to some extent , f**k if the antis had there way fishing would be banned!! But you get my drift....

It seams to be more and more of a status thing more than a capability thing to have the Bull blood introduced to a lurcher .

Not for me , though just my opinion as most working lurchers I have seen that are good at there job have never needed this hyped up cross.

Again just my opinion and general observation !!!

Admittedly of youngsters mostly but were are they getting there idols from or there ideas????

Hope I'm not offending any one .

Your first line, though stated, 'your' opinion, is IMO complete bollocks, as their is no such thing as a 'true' lurcher and collie crosses are no more 'true' than any other type!

Your second line is one of 'the' most damning things I have read on this site, all crosses have their place, all crosses have their uses and that shouldn't matter if that cross is of no use to you! To use a slanderous media term in the context of 'our' hunting dogs on this site is fecking bang out of order!!!! :censored:

Pardon?????

As you say my opinion!!!

Now I also stated (there is no such thing as a true lurcher) are your eyes painted on ??? No because obviously you only read what you like and take offence very easily ( I take it you own a Bull cross as do many of my fellow friends/hunters)!!!

Again as I said I don't feel the need to introduce Bull blood to a lurcher, as again stated " most of which I have seen have worked fine without it" !!! ( again MY opinion )

Now I have read your post and will agree that most crosses have there place , but what is the average Joe blogs going to think after reading such articles (if you see this type of people/dogs call this number) when he sees a group of lads walking down the park were they know there are deer ,fox and so on with this big Pit Bull like dog???? They lads are going after the poor innocent wildlife !!! YES??? God I would think the same ,would you not???

As they are the medias best form of propaganda !! Now do you read the papers or just the bits you like ,and if you have seen these articles ,then you can do no other than agree!!!

I am not faulting the dogs , AS STATED I AM JUST GIVING AN OPPINION!!

As you are entitled to yours, sadly it's a poor one ,again that's my opinion.

NOW IF YOU DON'T LIKE THAT AND TRY TO MAKE MY POST TO BE SOMETHING IT'S NOT THEN I'M SORRY AGAIN BECAUSE THAT WON'T HAPPEN EITHER!!

SORRY IF I OFFENDED,BUT IT'S AN OPEN FORUM FOR PEOPLES OPPINIONS!

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD, THINK BEFORE YOU ACT, OR IN THIS INSTANCE THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK/TYPE!!

Sadly I might not agree with the image portrayed to Bull crosses, but unfortunately it's one that will follow them ALLWAYS DUE TO THE CURRENT SITUATION WITH REGARDS TO FIELD SPORTS!!

Best bull x,s i ever seen run were the genuine half x,s from the mid to late 80,s...never seen anything like em since...maybe because the bull side of the breeding was untainted with other blood which we see too much of today..atb stabba

why do people feel they need bull x dogs? lurchers were bred as pot fillers originaly, hare, rabbit, birds, if you want to work fox, etc. get a terrier! are you macho bull X owners scared of handling live quarry? we used to (pre-ban)remove problem foxes etc. for farmers and release them elsewhere.-unharmed! supposeyou lot don't know how to handle live quarry do you?

i used to kill foxes etc. 25 yrs. ago, with terriers. then i thought, what's the point? so started to catch and release them. now i have hare dogs, i try to have the best possible, not had them yet, but still trying. don't want to kill every hare that i see, prefer to watch a good course. hope i'm not the only one on here who thinks this way!
