45 years old,not a bad innings for a carp, think it was caught less than 50 times in its lifetime, most of the top carp lads have fished for it at one time or another

There's been 1 or 2 more recently as well. Bluebell lakes in Northants lost 2 awhile back. Benson and the Creature i think. Maybe all the "Old" British carp are all the same age and gonna go around the same time. I know the Bluebell ones died because of badly prepared Tigers. Allegedly.

Its not a shame, it had a long and famous life...it was hooked more times than the local smack head, its a wonder it survived till now. A human fed boily muncher, which brought satisfaction to folk who like to fished for a named fish....A shame is when a very big fish that goes unnoticed all its life and dies with out getting the recognition it deserved. Like the many many big fish in loches and loughs around the british isles...

Fishing made easy, for the TOP anglers of the country. Who all drive to the same place, and all fish for the same fish..... 20+mile long waters all the way is the secret to angling pleasure...

Exactly... wild fish all the way....

Its the same as a river 30lb pike, or a big loch pike, compared to a trout water fed pike.....

And i didnt say lake, i said "loch" meaning 20mile plus ,, so not every fish will be caught. If it wasnt to me, then ignore this and i apoligize pal.

You get the same thing happening on the rivers, look at the barbel on the Ouse on the old Milton Keynes stretch near Bedford. The barbel there were caught every week, one was even named, the Traveller i think. One guy caught it twice in a week a few years ago, both times it was over the record. IIRC he got lots of stick for targeing the same fish again after he caught it the first time.
