skycat 6,173
Deep cuts to the pad can take up to a month to heal properly. Keep foot clean: wash in salt water every day. Apply something like Padsanol (from the Greyhound Megastore) to keep skin supple and stop it drying out. Keep dog on lead until healed.

MissRhianL 70
pad cuts are cows to heal cause the dog is constantly putting pressure on the cut, stopping the tissues binding and holding together and healing properly. Longs if you bath the cut with warm salt water, there shouldnt be a problem. The dog will lick the cut itself removing any foreign bodies with its tongue. You can do with yourself when you bath the area. Some people have tried wrapping like a loose but secure bandage around the cut to stop anything from getting in there. It all takes time butty
