falcongit 242
hi all,it was a bit wet this morning in my neck of the woods, but the wife was haveing her hair done so i decided to go out shooting,i took both rifles with me the ultra multi and the stoeger springer which needed the sights setting up,so i set a target up at 20 yards and got stoeger on the bullseyes, then i was going to move it to 30 yards and set it up to that when i got distracked with a hare in the distance,so i put the springer back in my car and got my ultra multi out to have a bash at this hare,i have shot a few in the past, you need some skill with them to get anywhere near most of the time they are in the middle of a field and you have to try and get near them with out them spotting you,so its abit of army styl on you belly slow movements with the wind in your face because hares pick your smell up very easley, its even better if theres some wind because they dont hear you for the trees and plants swaying and making noise which is better for you get closer without detection you need all the help you can get with hares...anyway i am watching this hare for a while, then i tried to get closer but it spots me and runs of i thought dam it so carried on in the same way it went, i just got round the corner of the field and spotted it sat down with its ears tucked away, they are realy hard to see untill they move,so backed up slowley and got down on the floor and crawled towards it,but it spotted me and ran of,so same again went in the direction it went,i spotted it again further up the field, got down again and watch it for a while then all of a sudden it turned round and come towards me what a result,so i laid still till it was about 20 yards away,i like them to be that close because they are alot bigger than a rabbit and i want to no that i have killed it cleanly, anyway i gave a little squeak so the hare would stop which it did and took my shot, no pellet came out,but luckley the hare stopped where it was,so primed my rifle again and the same thing happened again:censored: ,so i took the mag out and i had forgot to load the pellets in:censored: ,by this time the hare had shot of again:censored: because it seen me moveing trying to fill my mag up.so got up again and went in the hares direction again,as i walk further down the field i spot it again comeing towards me thank f-ck for that, got laid down and waited for it to come, did another squeak to make it stop and this time the pellet hit the spot.....result very hard work but thats what its all about..now thats what you call hunting....i realy enjoyed the challenge of this kill....i had to work for it i no that...this my first hare for this season...i have put some pics of the hare and of the layout of the field. 2 Quote Link to post

Nice shooting, ive not shot a hare before, although ive been given a few in the past by mates which have gone straight into the oven! Quote Link to post
