very few of the lads that truely live it are on here, they are out there hunting/fishing/training their dogs/rearing their poults.

im thankful for the few that do make it in here from time to time.

i hunt 3-4 times a week (sept-march), hell- im a part-timer, might take up fishing next year to make use of the summer, ive a decent stocked lake only 3miles up the road so ive no excuse, my nearest permission is 6miles away lol.

I would say as a keeper I live the hunting life as do all the people employed in the field sports sector be it hunt service or stalker etc that is not to say that people not employed in this sector don't live to hunt many people are just if not more committed to hunting in whatever form than those employed in it.

So long as you get out there and hunt no mater how little then you live the hunting life

For me hunting comprises once every week or 2 tagging along with a few fellas who know a lot more about it than me,i find it very interesting and enjoyable.Im nowhere near as commited or dedicated as some folk on here it just fits adequately into life at this moment, hopefully later on in life i will become more involved with the learnings ive gained......and this website is another source of that learning and interest.

Plus its a good place to take the piss out of northerners and jocks :tongue2:

Flying 3 Harris hawks daily throughout the season, plus maintaining a breeding pair, It's pretty much a way of life, no holidays or weekends away, even in the summer your constantly on call, you can't find just any body to give you a day off.

Have a permission almost on my doorstep which I have a mooch around with my terriers and gun (and recently acquired running dog) everyday. Shoot driven every weekend from start of Oct to end of season. And terrierwork on three shoots, but only on request by keeper/shoot captain through season. Don't know if that means I live the "hunting life", but hunting (in one form or another) is my main pastime and interest. Cheers

I think that there is a bit of a difference between using a gun/dog/bird etc to kill things and 'the hunting life'. I don't think any one on here really lives a TRUE hunting life, where their survival, sustenance and prosperity is dependent on their harvesting of game, and most of the other things that go on in their lives are somehow tied into this. However there is definitely a wide range of different levels of immersion into the 'hunting life' on this site, but i don't think the body count had much to do with it. Its the ethos.

Another question would be - is stuff like driven shooting or even lamping. really hunting?
