Nows the time to go and cut some shanks,hazle,black thorn,ash cherry and hawthorn all make good sticks. cut them now and work on them next year when there nice and dry(each type takes a certain lenght of time to dry properly) Hazle shanks can be bought from country fairs dryed and nice and straight ready to work a good book for the beginer is The craft of stick making by Leo Gowen, cost me 50p from a book club out of countrymans weekly Heres one i got of an old boy i know he made it for thr liberty & livelyhood march just get out there and collect some good shanks, Quote Link to post Share on other sites
