no mate its not expensive,and it can be very rewarding. Nows the time to go and cut some shanks,hazle,black thorn,ash cherry and hawthorn all make good sticks. cut them now and work on them next year when there nice and dry(each type takes a certain lenght of time to dry properly)

Hazle shanks can be bought from country fairs dryed and nice and straight ready to work a good book for the beginer is

just get out there and collect some good shanks,
