Of course all my dogs haven't all worked to a very high standard....no two dogs of mine have ever worked alike....all having different strengths and weaknesses. They have all worked to a standard im h

It happens every year Stabba, make's me laugh.

"100% dog on all game, genuine reason for sale.."

It's usually pups that have been ruined @ 9-18 months old. Some lads buy a dog and expect it to be a world beater with the minimum effort put into it. They give it a few slips, and if it doesn't pick it up immediately it gets passed on.. :thumbdown:thumbdown.gif

tottaly agree with you stabba, evry year there are loads of dogs for sale on sites like this or free ad papers most of them can turn out to be descent dogs in the right hands.i dont understand why people bring up lurchers and terriers till there 12 - 18 months and then sell them just when they are ready to start work

i think the reason lurchers are for sale between 8 - 18 months is because idots have them running them too young and the pup probs starts yappin behind the quarry or jacks because they hav'nt introduced them properly IMO :hmm:

amen to that stabba why buy a dog to do bigger pre ban quary when all you need is a rabbiter. if people thought what they'd need from a dog in the beginning there'd be no need to swap and change ffs.

i'll be neutering my collixwhippet bitch in spring, i know shes not a worldbeater, shes a nice little thing and will do the job i want. theres no need to breed a litter with so many for sale, id have to have a top coursing dog/race dog/unreal alrounder before id breed a lurcher.

I've got a 14 month old male pup that I'll be taking out this fall for his first, he's full of piss and vinegar. He has one problem that I'm not quite sure what to do about, he face barks in the kennel and I'm hoping it isn't an omen of some sort. Any suggestions? I'm hoping once he see's game and is let on that it will go away. What do you consider "introduced proper"? He's not for-sale, just been reading here and there. He was born with us and he'll be staying with us regardless but I'd like to see the barking go away. He's keen at spotting but yet to be let go, and I'm sure that alone frustrates him. He and his dam have taken two birds that happened to fly too closely over their kennel in the last couple of months. Its been a long time since I've been to any of the boards, a lot has changed.

Ive sold a couple of dogs myself if they were crap they would be put down but for 1 genuine reason or another these dogs have to be moved on some times, a dog no good for your chosen quarry may be great on another, buyers need to be wary and sellers should be honest,i dont know what your whinging about realy if you dont want to look at the classifides no ones making you.
