stabba 10,745
The season is just about upon us and yet theres dozens of dogs for sale..whats the craic there then? All still with the same old excuses of ..its too big..its too little...ive been kicked out..ive split with the missus. Bet within a month the folk parting with em will have got another dog on. Ffs when you get a dog all these things should have been taken into consideration.Get a grip lads. Also it seems to be the same old faces doing the selling...rant over...atb stabba 7 Quote Link to post
Malt 379
It happens every year Stabba, make's me laugh. "100% dog on all game, genuine reason for sale.." It's usually pups that have been ruined @ 9-18 months old. Some lads buy a dog and expect it to be a world beater with the minimum effort put into it. They give it a few slips, and if it doesn't pick it up immediately it gets passed on.. Quote Link to post

Personally malt i think they should shut the for sale section down. It,d stop half the members from comin on who are only intrested in buyin and sellin ..atb stabba Quote Link to post
CarraghsGem 92
seems to be a glut of lurcher pups about too, wish folks wouldnt breed from the average bitchs, if your just after a pup like your bitch, buy one, you'll end up stuck with most of the litter otherwise unless your really lucky Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Best idea anyones had on here for a while Quote Link to post
wexford-digger 1
tottaly agree with you stabba, evry year there are loads of dogs for sale on sites like this or free ad papers most of them can turn out to be descent dogs in the right hands.i dont understand why people bring up lurchers and terriers till there 12 - 18 months and then sell them just when they are ready to start work Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
I carnt believe the amount of pups bred this year especialy bull crosses as finding work for these types is getting hotter by the sound of things. Quote Link to post
Wxm 1,638
i think the reason lurchers are for sale between 8 - 18 months is because idots have them running them too young and the pup probs starts yappin behind the quarry or jacks because they hav'nt introduced them properly IMO Quote Link to post
Guest fence_hopper
amen to that stabba why buy a dog to do bigger pre ban quary when all you need is a rabbiter. if people thought what they'd need from a dog in the beginning there'd be no need to swap and change ffs. Quote Link to post

arcticgun 4,548
Times are hard for everyone and some take advantage of there dogs by breeding , although likely they aren't really worth breeding from , after all we cannot all have top dogs can we time and time again you see it on here, lad comes on few pics of his dog, mates come on and big him and dog/bitch up, next thing lining is announced time rolls on and they are for sale in the sales section on here. The best litters are never advertised 1 Quote Link to post
NOOK/ANNA 96
Think people expect to much from young dogs nowadays and at an even earlier age. I still class my dogs pups until they are 2 year old. And never expect to them to be world beaters in there 1st season as they are only learning. Quote Link to post

The best litters are never advertised i'll be neutering my collixwhippet bitch in spring, i know shes not a worldbeater, shes a nice little thing and will do the job i want. theres no need to breed a litter with so many for sale, id have to have a top coursing dog/race dog/unreal alrounder before id breed a lurcher. DeanD 3
i think the reason lurchers are for sale between 8 - 18 months is because idots have them running them too young and the pup probs starts yappin behind the quarry or jacks because they hav'nt introduced them properly IMO I've got a 14 month old male pup that I'll be taking out this fall for his first, he's full of piss and vinegar. He has one problem that I'm not quite sure what to do about, he face barks in the kennel and I'm hoping it isn't an omen of some sort. Any suggestions? I'm hoping once he see's game and is let on that it will go away. What do you consider "introduced proper"? He's not for-sale, just been reading here and there. He was born with us and he'll be staying with us regardless but I'd like to see the barking go away. He's keen at spotting but yet to be let go, and I'm sure that alone frustrates him. He and his dam have taken two birds that happened to fly too closely over their kennel in the last couple of months. Its been a long time since I've been to any of the boards, a lot has changed. gatwick 6
Ive sold a couple of dogs myself if they were crap they would be put down but for 1 genuine reason or another these dogs have to be moved on some times, a dog no good for your chosen quarry may be great on another, buyers need to be wary and sellers should be honest,i dont know what your whinging about realy if you dont want to look at the classifides no ones making you. 1 Quote Link to post
