Davidh 5
I would say that you should wait until December. As this will allow him to stop growing and will give him time to become "safe" to use on your jill next spring. Edited August 15, 2010 by Davidh
stealthy1 3,964
Wait until next Spring, as the days grow longer, your hob will come into season, his testicles will become inlarged, and he will start to spray scent on things to mark his territory, you will be able to smell this  Its then time to take him to the vets to be sorted
stealthy1 3,964
I'm new to ferrets and in the same situation. however I was told to get mine done as soon as possible? The operation can only be done while the animal is in season, he wont be in season as a kit

Kay 3,709
I would get him done at the back end nov time .. its not going to effect him hormonally he will just have no viable sperm .. so will behave just like a ferret who hasn't been vasectomised .. if you get him done at the back end by the time the Jills need servicing he should be firing blanks .. but one thing i will stress is find a vet who has done vasectomies on ferrets before ... sometimes they dont work .. there quite fiddly jobs by all accounts due to the size of the bits that have to be tied off
