young pup leave at home ?

Recommended Posts

Just got some new permission i know there are a lot of rabbits there to ferret .The thing is i dont know whether to leave my 8 month old lurcher at home and just take my mates kelpy x whippet ?I could take her later in the season when we are doing the quieter bits so i could devote all my attention to looking after the dog or should i just go for it ?The two dogs have hardly met ,mine hasn't seen a rabbit yet ,my mates can be a bit funny over the rabbits and i just think my pup will just want to play.

just go with you and your pup and net the rabbits and let the pup run out and get them in the net, a done this with my pup and gradually taken some nets away each week and letting it get some runners and also some in the net to keep its confidence up and keep it keen

Is this another a trick question!!?? How on earth do you exspect it to learn the trade if your not going to take it?? Lead your dog up, let it watch the goings on. Then lead your mates dog up, and let yours have a mess with the nets also..

As for keeping it away from the kill, dont be so silly, let it have a rabbit, let it do what it wants to do... And if the other nasty lurcher wants to rip into it, give the fecker a good scruffing!!

And as for taking it later in the season. Do you mean when all the young gulable easier catches have been killed! And there are only seasoned rabbits left, lol! When the ferrets are struglling to move the harder tougher rabbits which have survived the season, so that your young pup gets bored and tired of waiting for the action. Which in turn makes it play and mess with nets etc, then in turn gets it a bolocking! come on fella... feck your mates dog off and get yours sorted. The more time you spend with ti out in the field, the better it will become! And dont forget, give it a dropper...

I AGREE [bANNED TEXT], ANY TIME SPENT ,EVEN JUST BEING TAKEN FOR THE DAY,THE JOURNEY IN THE CAR ETC IS GONNA HELP YOUR BOND & IMPROVE YOUR DOG`S MANNERS. SOME EDUCATION AINT GONNA HURT. SLOW & STEADY NEVER LOST A RACE, BUT THEY DONT LEARN MUCH LYING IN THE KENNELS THATS FOR SURE.
