Lost Generation 93
Hi people im new to this forum and new to working dogs just starting to learn about it, ive decided what dog i want, i want a deerhoundx greyhound , but some people say theyre no good for the smaller quarry, does anyone know of any pups around ? I have a 3/4 grey / 1/4 deerhound bitch in pup at the moment and due to deliver next weekend. My bitch is a very, very good allrounder and outstandingly good on heavy quarry. She is in pup to Dave Platts pure deerhound Turpin so the pups will be 5/8 deerhound / 3/8 greyhound. This breeding throws pups very similar to first cross deerhound/grey but usually with a bit more coat, pm me if you want more info. Cheers. Hello, Whats the height of the bitch? Seems a very intersing cross that would suit the my local ground! Cheers Rob My bitch is a whisker under 30" and 85lbs when fit. She has brilliant feet and has run over really atrocious ground, she is a genuinely outstanding allrounder and will kill everything from daytime rabbits to very large quarry and has accounted for a huge head of game in very varied terrain. She was bred by the coursing greyhound trainer Michael Johnson fron Saltburn and was out of a bitch sired by Platts deerhound Odin to the very sucessful Irish coursing greyhound bitch Craven Lady and this bitch was put back to a coursing greyhound dog. A great dog to teach and a fast learner, very gutsy, hopefully have some good seasons with him in the near future. Quote Link to post

I'm just breeding a replacement for my bitch really, she's six now and just too good not to breed from and I need an apprentice to bring on as her eventual sucessor. A number of the pups are spoken for before they are born but depending on the size and composition of the litter I'm likely to have a few left to sell on. Quote Link to post

She will work just about anywhere, we have 300 acres of very rough wooded hillside behind my house which is full of game and a mixture of land from tiny pony paddocks to 100 acre fields within a few minutes walk. We've got loads of roe and muntjac a few fallow, loads of rabbits and too many foxes but not many hares. Some of it good running and some very stoney, but she has run all over the place and never let me down.
