Is it imperative to have saluki in a hare dog, I have seen a non saluki dog spin a hare and he made short work of it, do we know of any good non saluki hare dogs ??

Well I havent owned, and wouldnt own a lurcher with a large percentage of saluki in it. Not for me, but thats my choice.

had a 23tts whippit x greyhound a few years ago and he made a good hare dog . made easy work of them as well , mind saying that after 2 or 3 hares he was nackered , may be if he had a bit saluki in him who nose he cud of killed more , the most i had was 6 in one week day time good few years back when there was plenty of them about . not so many now about

saluki in a lurcher can really help with stamina but i dont think that it is essential as there are many gd hair dags out there without saluki blood

It would be true that in Ireland there may be good hare dogs without saluki blood , but might that be because the brown hare is uncommon in Ireland and that the far more common Irish hare is inferior in performance terms to the rare brown.
