andyfr1968 772
As a lot of folks have already said, I think many newcomers (young and old) are afraid to post or ask questions for fear of being jumped on or ridiculed. That's not helped by the fact that there's been an awful lot of posts recently by newbies that are clearly designed to provoke a negative reaction from the other members on here. It can be hard to tell who's genuine and who's not. I know the reasons why THL's gone public, business is business after all but it's left the site very open for abuse by those who are that way out. It'd be great to get the youngster's more involved and to bring them more into the fold, so to speak. I think what's been suggested is a great idea and I hope it works out. Cheers. Edit.... Spelling. mackay 3,395
Well call me a cynical old git, but, I'm afraid I'm one who doesn't offer advice to youngsters. I guarantee if there are a hundred young people on here about two will end up decent knowledgable hunters and it won't be because of the lack of advise offered but simply because there are so many just going through a phase. I know of teenagers local to me who have already owned more dogs than me and I started out in 1976. They have the attention span of a gnat and treat lurchers or terriers (like everything else) as a disposable commodity. Many of us learned the basics when the internet was a futuristic dream, if your genuine you can get off your arse and do what people before you did.

SNAP SHOT 194
Hunter Harley, the hunters who respond to young hunters question poorly, Forget that THEY once upon a time had to learn whatever skills they may have. i remember years ago, going out shooting and learning what went wrong, if i didn't know why something wasn't right then i asked an older hunter.. My saying goes like this, " there is no such thing as a stupid question only a STUPID answer" i wish i asked more questions whenever at school, To those who respond with bitterness or smart answers, i say forget them, As you'll never learn anything of value from them. perthshire keeper 1,239
i always try to help as many people as i can with what ever i can its not that long ago ( my god 10 years!!) i was bugging the liveing shite out of (older) people hell i still am just ask TC! some people have a thurst for knowlage and what to know as much as they can. why not just help them if their just going thru a fase then it will fizzle out and they can go back to their street carner but lets not-not give a young-un a chance. its better they lern from those that have made the mistakes than make them them themselvs. alb
ilovelamping 0
to be honest us younges have asked for help on here and we dont really get any replys so we think whats the point in waisting our time making a post and no one comments.
