its not rocket science that all hares are not the same,the topic is how many people have seen done in one day is the dogs fault that all hares aint strong???they can only try abd catch whats put in front of them,as i dont hunt in the uk but from what ive seen on dvds espically forley 2000,none of those hares looked weak to me,and dogs on footage smashed 5/5,colonel just coz your dog cant kill more than 3 in one day,doesnt mean anyone elses dog cant

Back in the early 80's we had several 3/3 and 5/5 with our dogs, single handed at Harmston near Lincoln.

Ex wifes uncle had a bungalow there and worked in Saudi, so we had loads of spells ther while we were "house sitting". LOL.

Thought we had good dogs but the fact is they used to shoot over 100 a day and we were sickened to see the game cart come through the village with maybe 100 or more on the trailer. Depends where you are but when there are as many hares as rabbits around, even a mediocre dog will catch them if they are green.

Any dog that can do 5/5 nowadays daytime has got to be half -decent, given the fact that it's hard to get so many runs nowadays. IMHO.

Cheers, D.

someone knows their stuff!best reply on here!! i've had 3 a couple of times, but these guys talking 6,7,8. etc. are running poor hares, FACT. a GOOD hare takes some catching, and if you come accross 6 good ones, you might catch 3, certainly not all six!

wel sed :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

colonel believe me the dogs i mentioned caught big numbers reguarly in mid winter when hares were at their strongest myself and plenty otheres saw it and in fact a few members on here as well and all these hares were given a fair start with no easy slips the club we run in would not allow it. just because someone hasnt seen it done doesnt mean it doesnt happen when theres good dogs involved .

Looking at your post brings up a good point mate.You walk your dogs onto a hare and slip .My dogs have all ways worked up the hare them self using up a lot more energy.So maybe the slipped dog will take more.atb Catcherthumbs.gif
