PBurns 9
If this board has as many people digging their dogs and posting pictures as they have people ragging on plummer terriers (which are just a color variant of a Jack Russell for God's sake), it would be a much more interesting board. Instead, we have seven-dig experts (if they have dug anything) slagging off people who are posting genuine pictures of recent digs on their own dogs. Some of the incredulity is a bit amusing too. If you say you have never dug on a dog and had it come out unsoiled, I would suggest you might need to dig a little more. It happens all the time, depending on the soil or stone being worked, the size and location of the sette, the degree of wet, the temperament of the fox, the coat of the dog, and how you go about handling things at the end of the dig. As for this thread, am I the only person to look to see what the originator has posted about digs on his own dogs? There are no pictures of working terriers that I can find, and there are more posts in classifieds than anywhere else. This is of no mind to me, but first things first, eh? I would suggest that instead of slagging dogs with quarry, people might spend some time posting pictures of their own recent digs on their own dogs. And let's make them recent -- not stuff you drag up that your dead dad dug, or the same picture of that one dig two or three years ago. I offer this small suggestion to improve the board, because this Plummer stuff is really old, tired and silly. It's really all a big yawn. And Millet, you are wise to be cautious. P. Guest JOEB
Keep your knickers on Pat..........no a photo dont allways tell the story......just saying what I see JOEB Seeing as we are having a snoop at what pictures people use, maybe this has something to do with your unbiased view :11: Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Like Ive said many times before ,Ive no gripe with anyone owning /working a terrier to anything. Its the people trying to justify the Plummer terrier as an earth dog that pisses me and other lads off.My aunts yorkie will rag a dead anything ,complete with bow in the hair,so you see why the pics mean nothing .Just one pic of a plummer ,collared up and soiled ,facing a fox in a DIG would be enough to shut me up the subject .Even better,an invite to watch one doing the bizz would seal it forever. Any takers-your ground, your choice of earth-Anywhere in England . Quote Link to post
fellman 116
shame the so called pure dogs aint the only one to work charlie isnt it. must admit lucky first one today for sid. he found this one in a small tunnel about six foot long in the banking. although to be honest fox aint my thing all the time, now and then is ok but i got sid to rat and bush with, at that he is comming on nicely as i posted a while ago BBB i aint got no need for all the bravado and bull that goes with it, sid does me proud in what ever i ask and to be honest for me that is all i need in a dog. now if you feel YOU have something to prove then take up the challenge layed down by shamo. as for me i see all the proof i need from sid each and every day and those that are out with me do so too. Where is the collar at on that dog if you have just dug to it..??? ..or did you do it the old way.. .. Millet I really dont give a feck one way or the other, but all I can see is a picture of a russel type ragging a dead foxes arse And unless it was killed by arse bites, theres not a mark on the foxes neck or the dog Just saying what I see JOEB "killed by arse bites" sounds great to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just me then huh? yis fellman Quote Link to post

austin 0
63 Posts on hereover 11 hundred on the PTGB site...and not one post regarding your fox hunting escapades.. Oh dear what will your Auntie Susan say A lot less than Parksey now we scuppered him and his little tricks, but it may be worthy of a mention that the PTCGB forum is a breed society club forum - NOT a hunting forum , just in case your little brain cant take in such a difficult comparison PTCGB forum - breed enthusiasts The HL - Hunting Life - ie for those who specialise in activities relating to hunting - which gets me to thinking why you are on here BBB ? Moorman 1 1,353
Posting for a mate.Went up to a keepers place a week or so back and dug this game bird thief with my mates old Plummer bitch. We dug to her at a good 10 foot. This bitch is about 10 1/2 years of age and is still 100% reliable on fox.I have seen this bitch and her mother find in earths that other terriers have failed in on the day. These two bitches are/were as good as any earth dog on fox.If you get a Plummer from the right lineage and enter it correctly it will do the job as good as any other terrier.
