Recommended Posts

So is it a Ridgeback/Staff X Whippet? Any chance you could put a picture up? And good luck with the lamping, as long as its fit enough I dont see why you wont catch game.

im more thinking for next season as she has a bit of chunk on he at the minute as she has been whith my grandparents while i was on hoilday should burn it off tho ill try find a lead 4 my camera

How old is she? No point putting it off mate, it will do the dog good to be fit and in good shape... make sure you give a good high protien diet of meat/bone/fats or if you prefer, a high protien complete aswell. Plenty of exercise is key to getting them in shape before you start lamping them. Id say 3 weeks of good running/diet you should change a podgey dog into a fitter animal. Then once you start lamping her regularly you will see her fitness improve again, as well as her catch rate hopefully. Good luck.

looking forward to hearing if that can catch a rabbit best of luck, you might want to do a little prair before you go out mate.

sounds to me like a young lad trying to get into the game, maybe thats the only dog he's allowed i dont know, why not give him some positive advice on how to get his dog fit and if he's out enjoying himself whether he catches loads or not surely thats all that matters instead of just being sarcastic as usual!

no mate wasnt being sarcastic wish the fella luck, heres some advice for you then mate get it fit atleast 4 miles for about 2 3 weeks good grub which it looks like its getting(overweight and out of shape) get it fit. get it on the lamp and give it an easy slip. you want it to have confidence so best give it an easy rabbit, it will soon loose interest if it never catches them.

He/she's quite podgy so you really need to get some weight off it and get it into proper condition before you can expect it to catch anything but it should catch when fit. I know of pure bred English Bull Terriers of a heavier build than your dog that catch so there's no reason why not.
