stevesel 18
One of my ferrets,a year old jill has lost weight recently, she seems lethargic and doesnt want to play with the others. I cant see anything wrong with her, teeth, runs etc and she eats ok its just getting very thin.I lost an old jill year before last and she gradually went downhill like this one. I have three other ferrets and they all live together and none of them are unwell.I feed rabbit, chicken etc and this is frozen for a few weeks prior to feeding as i worry about worms. Any ideas? Guest Frank
I had a young jill back in the summer, that went exactly the same way, could not find what was rong with her. I had to put her down in the end , she got so bad. Hope yours comes round. Frank. Quote Link to post
lamperman 12
are your hutches situated where cold winds and rain can hit them all the time mate Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Well, it was not cold wind and rain that saw my jill of As it was in the summer and hot and yes, her hutch was in the shade. Frank. Quote Link to post
stevesel 18
Mine all live together in a 5x10 court half wired on one side, there are plenty of places to get out of the weather and the other three are all ok,ill see how it goes i was tempted to PTS but i really dont want to lose this particular jill as i was going to breed from her in the spring. She is the smallest ferret i have ever seen and maybe there is something wrong with her that has been there all along although she is well over a year old and has always been healthy I have never tried any of the ferret vite/tonics that are available and i wonder if it might help, has anyone used it before? kbotw45 1
Is she getting enough of the food, with 4 of them in there could she be bullied off it a little bit? Quote Link to post
Guest Jane Russell
I don't know much about ferrets so take this with a pinch of salt ... Take her down the vets for a broad spectrum antibiotic in case she has an infection of some sort and as Nathan mentioned, check she's eating her share of the food. Jane Quote Link to post
whin 463
chap it on the head its a poor doer and there no piont breeding of infeiror or undersized stock,if it doesnt pull through do the nesssary and keep the healthy ones, ive took them to the vets before he just took my money and they still died etc Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
This is exactly what happened to me, vets took my money and i eventually had to put her down. Keep only the best. Frank. Quote Link to post
