diy custon stock

For the roughing out, it's worth hunting down someone with a decent band saw, saves hours! Then a decent drum sander to bring it close to what you want in terms of curves, then do the final finishing by hand, otherwise you'll end up going mental doing it by hand!

 

The other issue is bedding it in. You need to be careful to make sure you get the bed the right shape to make sure the rifle is properly supported.

 

Are you going for skeleton, thumbhole, anything special like that?

 

It's a lovely piece of wood, £20 is a bargain!

It looks as though its going to be a thumbhole, looking at the outline hes got on the wood.

The shape you have scethed is looking nice.

You have inspired me to have a go too :laugh:

Going to try and make one for my AAs200.

Ye its going to be a thumb hole, haven't got the luxury of a ban saw so all by hand,,, figured out why its called HARDwood lol, by the way my name is James.

good pic mate now just chop a bit more off then take another photo and put it up :yes:

 

how much did that ash cost?

 

Cost £20, will show more tomorow. Hard graft when its all done by hand,,,think its goin to take longer than I thought.

 

i think its going to take you ALOT longer than you thought :laugh: dont rush it tho. little and often :thumbs:

you using pen knife to sharpen your pencil or to carve your stock :hmm::laugh::laugh::laugh::tongue2:
