got 2 rabbit skins they were shot last night, how would i go about drying them out, what do i need to put on them if anything m gna use them to rap a dummy and train the pup..

hi mate when i had my white one i pined it on to my dart bord and just rubbed loads of salt on to it evry day for a couple of weeks

years ago i used borax (think thats what it was called) dryed it all out and made a dummy for my lurcher

white sprits for 2 weeks suppose to keep it for 70 years..?

Hi Mate,

 

If you just want the skins for wrapping around a dummy then salting it will be fine. If you want to keep it long term though you'll need to tan it properly as moths and other bugs will still attack a salted pelt. I use Alum Potash and Cleaning Soda to tan my rabbit skins with - PM me if you'd like more info on this, otherwise just cover it in salt and leave it to dry for a week or so.
