CarraghsGem 92
a friend of mine gave me a hound x jrt pup. 3mths. ive taken it as my elderly parson bitch isnt great at bushing rabbits and i could do with one on the ground i hunt, problem is ive never kept hounds. where do i start? at the moment im just treating it the same as the rest of my pups. jez this pup has a gob on it, howled for 2 days solid, im keeping it in a mixed group of pups. what makes a hound tick, what should i expect. what motivates a stubborn pup like this. ive plenty of experience with terriers, lurchers, collies but this is new territory for me.... terrier410 53
when its about six months take it to where there's rabbits and instinct will do the rest. good advice my oldest beagle now 3 learnt off my old terrier now got 3 that work as a pack on rabbits and got a 3 month old to bring on you can't take away hundreds of years of breeding no matter what the kc try to do. (when i say work as pack its sometimes (dis)organised chaos) Quote Link to post

(a whistle to get their attention then shout their names like a nutter) Quote Link to post
