davyt63 1,845
hi as i was saying! So my plan was to get some NV scopecam rabbit shooting! Well all didn’t go to plan, before sunset I had 3 consecutive shots all missed! So it was up to the west end of the paddock to do some zeroing in the dark, luckily I found a piece of chalk stone so I paced out 30yds and placed it on a fence then I put me lamp on it and ranged it 31yds,so that was good enough for me! Then I tried to zero using the scopecam in NV mode well what a mare I was having! I could see a nail head that had not been in long as it was still shinning so aimed at that to get a good group, with that my Clue light IR wouldn’t stay still so had to adjust that, and was getting frustrated as I wanted to crack on.anyways got that done, but still no joy so took it all off again and put me sure fire tactical lamp on. And that wouldn’t stay still either, so had to mess about with that for a while. Well I was well stressed now, I was going to pick every thing up and go home. But I thought no! I’ll stay and keep calm because I done this visit for you guys, as I said I would get some bunny footage in NV mode, after a quick fag and a stair in to the stars I was calm I took a couple of shots and adjusted accordingly then took my first shot at the chalk THWACK! & THWING!!!! It had disappeared so I took a look at my grouping all within my sausage thumb nail, so I will settle for that! Now back to the car for a de stress cuppa! As I went back to get my cup of tea, there were bunnies out in the other field 8 in total, I lent on a fence post quick lamp and off took reference point, could just make it out through the scope flick lamp on thwack! Turned into THWUK I missed! So chill axed and had a cuppa After my cuppa I flick the lamp on and they were out again, so on goes the IR light slowly got out of the car and put the rifle down and got my self set up for the first scopecam NV footage starring bugs bunny, so I turn on the handycam flick the light to spot mode this chucks out a 2million candle beam to bugs 41yds away, I could see its eye so took aim via scopecam which is hard looking at a bright light in darkness and squeezed the trigger THWACK!! Over it went with nerve jumps. I went to pick it up about 10 minutes later but could not find it as I was coming back I must of walked straight passed it, as it was a good 3yds from the place I shot it! Here is the footage I turned it over to see its brain matter hanging out the side of the exit wound Here is a pic I got my self back in position by the car, waited about 20/30 minutes and a quick flick of the lamp 4 bunnies out but 3 to far for me but one was what I would call perfect conditions range! I got my self comfy knee up arm rested rifle across it, controlled breathing! 2/2.5 mildot locked on squeeze THWACK!!! I see it disappear and thought mmmm so curiosity got the better of me, and I went for a stroll and believe it or not there it was no life in it at all ,so paced it back to the car and paced 64yds so with my stride it was 54.6yds I was well chuffed to say the least! Where it fell After a shot like that my confidence was on a high, and I went back to the paddock and got my self facing in to the wind! Up against the telegraph pole, I gave it half an hour Before I gave an it a little flick! (Of the lamp, bill!) Lol and there was a red jewel looked at it ranged it 1 mildot hold over THWACK!!! Up it went and down its hole nearly! Good job I got to it before it hit the ground to catch it! Where it fell Davy 3 Quote Link to post

andyz 30
Davy buddy, great bit of shooting there and also lessons for us all!!! Even the greats need to take time to releax and not let the situation get to them. Well wrote Davy, it really does go to show it isn't always as easy as you make it look!!! andyz 30
Hopefully should be sorted, I wouldn't mind bringing the zero down to spot on 35yrds as it’s currently around 38ish! I used Si's chrono during your meet and am very glad to say it was pushing out a very consistant 11.6 ft/lbs I’ve now managed to print out some scope labels through Chair Gun Pro and based them on 35yrds as this range gave me the greatest ‘kill zone’. I’ll give you a call a bit later to see how you’re suited for another trip out?? Cheers, Andy Quote Link to post
