lamping v night vision

Recommended Posts

I,ve not been lamping at all this year but dug all my stuff out and will be next week what do people think of night vision equipment ? i borrowed one from a mate 2 years ago and found it crap!.. not saying they all are he spent getting on 4 a grand on this as he has more money than sense, but i could barely make out a rabbit at 20 yards and when u do spot em they look miles away even if there 15 to 20 yards out think i,ll stick to good old fasioned lamping plus i dont have thousands of pounds spare either.... let me know what you all think <IMG id=smid_13 src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbs.gif" width=25 height=19>

Night Vision gear is getting better and better all the time  sounds like you were using generation 1 gear.

Gen 2 was a big step in the rightdirection, and Gen three even better

Although available to the military, Gen 4 is not available to tJo Public, but hell its ruddy good, damnd expensive but ruddy good!

Stick with lamping til Gen 3 becomes as cheap as a lamp (50 years maybe) then buy the gear ;)

There seems to be good write ups now regarding the new Pulsar Digisight which is around £1k which isn't that bad a price really..... thats why god invented credit cards and finance afterall !:gunsmilie:

I use the lamp for spotting quarry then turn it off and use the night vision, they complement each other well.

hi

if he spent four grand on a NV set up and you cant see a bunny at 20 yds, then im sorry but he was ripped of  or its just you dramatizing it a bit! tell to take it back to where he got it from and get a refund??

i spent 300£ on a VOMZ and its gen 1 it dose me fine i have great success with it,and lamp shy bunny's dont run off.

i also do lamping as well because some of my permissions( the business park) has far to many lights on after dark so NV no good as to much light will feck the tube up!

so if i had a choice it would be NV all the way  and there is nothing wrong with gen 1 you have to know how to use them to your advantage and just add an extra IR  i can make Bunny's out at 150yds

regards
