A good method Ive used if for some reason you cant dig, is tie a few rabbits to different purse nets and leave them in the mouths the of the holes, you will see the purse nets twitching when the ferret has a rabbit. Not an ideal method but if your desperate it does work, especially if you have a sulker.

I read somewhere that all animals have a natural fear of smoke and will run for the nearest smoke free zone. This guy used to light a bit of old news paper and the smoke would make them leave the warren?

What if the ferret is stuck behind a dead rabbit and can't run for the nearest exit? Whoever wrote that is a muppet who doesn't respect his animals.

does anyone just use old methods of ferret retrieval like feeding time noise,dead rabbit,banging about with a stick etc.

try the squeaker out of a cheap squeezy toy,works for me,but a modern locator is important.

yes ,allways i never use finders only sometimes a bell, i feed them up in the morning and through the day and hardly get many lay ups if i do i use a line hob to push them out as i generally use jills , they know if i start stamping that its time to go , i honestly think don,t there is any need of all the collars and spades if you do things correctly i only ever lost one ferret and that was knicked out the garden hutch and if i ever find out who knicked him i will be getting knicked here is the girls

if my ferrets come out when on a kill theyl not stay ln in the hutch long ,idea is to bolt or die or try kiling the rabbit ,if for some reason tiredness they come out fair enough but i dont want sqeekng toys etc to entice them a gutted rabbit works especvaily when the weather gets bad and your high up some in in gods country with rabits to lug

Ive used every conceivable method of ferret retrieval but a bit of bungee cord tied around its leg works a treat (Thats a joke kids dont try it)

 

 

If you have well fed, well handled and healthy animals then lie ups are few and far between as the they are game little buggers and just want to get on with the job.

I have two jills that wont leave rabbits in a stop end until they're dead, if the stopend has more than one, then she needs digging to, last time out there were four in the stopend, two dead and two arse up
