Tiercel 6,986
Pigs are far more intelligent than dogs. I think they rank 4th in the animal kingdom for intelligence behind Man, Monkeys, and Dolphins. They are definatly more intelligent than some of the posters on here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1218472/The-700-teacup-sized-pigs-latest-celebrity-pet.html
tdavepat 8
I do work for a pig slaughter and process plant now and again. I had read how intelligent they are and to see them being herded to their death by their thousands is quite disturbing. They know as soon as they enter the concrete runs what awaits them and as the front ones are being slaughtered, the ones behind start to panic. The panic spreads and the back rows try to get back onto the trucks. I'm not a veggie and I'm partial to a bacon buttie, but what gets me is why so many. To see that many go through the mill in that fashion and see bacon and ham going past its sell by date in shops, supermarkets and my fridge is not right. To see fat greedy b*****ds piling yet more unnecessary calories into their fat orifices is what drives the market for so many pen reared pigs. I think it's wishful thinking on my part but if only I could eat just humanely reared and slaughtered on demand meat I think would feel much happier. To put that in perspective, I already only take from the field what I know I can eat or find a use for (sell/swap/dog and ferret food).

Tiercel 6,986
There have been cases of folk training pigs to flush to the gun and retrieve. I remember an article about that quite a few years ago, I have had a search on the net for it but can't find it. I will keep on looking though, might try google cache.
