davyt63 1,845
hi every one Alex and i went up to marks pig farm, for some rat shooting with mark & si & serji "well went he wasnt on the bog" lol mark told us we had to have a shower! due to health & hiegynene, which was warm this time ,im sure si stitched us up for a last time and turned it to cold bbbbrrrrgggghhhh i had used my CB2 Clubman Deluxe last time but did not have a mount for it, as it was 30mm i have a 25mm but do not use it or the scope any more! so i got my self a 30mm gun mount http://www.cluson.co.uk/productsMain.aspx?CI_ID=46 i bought this lamp a few years ago when i use to go ut with my mate dave and use the ruger 10/22's rimfire for lamping bunny's http://www.cluson.co.uk/productsMain.aspx?CI_ID=5 which i have put an IR filter on and now use it in conjuction with my handycam NV mode which seems to do the job as you will see in the footage! it was a quiet night to say the least and i had a few but not on record only managed to get a few decent clips, but had others.si & mark have put a massive dent in the rat population so well done you two here are some pics si & mark Alex in some rather fetching white boots and where most of the action took place! here is some footage and the one i missed so looking forward to going back there in september! and dont forget mark your welcome down here any time and si knows he is too! thanks alot lads regards davy 3 Quote Link to post

pointer 543
all you can do is turn up and shoot whats there on the night.......better than staying in watching the telly, and rats will soon breed their numbers up again Thats the same lamp ive always used for my shooting and untill last season all my lamping with the lurcher aswell.Ive never used it for NV shooting but i have the IR filter for the odd occasion when i go out with NV binoculars. its time i got a new camcorder so i might end up filming a bit of shooting this winter. pointer 543
hi davy, i very rarely use bait and when i have i cant say for sure that the rats i shot wouldnt have been wandering around the area anyway but i have shot rats over cat food and as i go sea fishing i nearly always have mackeral around that i just stick in a blender and make into a smelly mash.sometimes we just put some corn down.i find bait of more use when numbers are down and im trying to lure whats left out of places where i cant shoot them into somewhere that i can,if rats are running around all over then i can be fairly confident of a good session whatever i do. i have in the past shot a feral pigeon and left it where it fell and then shot rats that came to feed on it,ive also found that a dead rat can be a big attractant to other rats.if theres youngsters around once you shoot one,the rest often cant resist hanging around their kins dead body and you can end up with a pile of half a dozen or so little uns in a short time. the main things i feel ive learnt is that usually the later i go out the more rats ill see, around midnight being the best time and that once the temperature drops to 0 degrees or below i dont tend to see much at all no matter how many rats the farm holds.
