Tiff 36
does the dog live in kennels or in the house? Do you have any other dogs? If you have other dogs DO NOT let the new bitch spend any more than a few minutes with the other dogs, they are pack animals and you need to establish that you are the ONLY pack member for this new bitch. Good luck, be patient, it will be hard going but it CAN be done. Quote Link to post
Guest Buttermilk
No not at all but it will never reach its maximum imo. Takes alot to get a good dog anyway this one has alot against it before he even starts training it to sit, stay etc ....bit of a sweeping statement there. And not an opinion I share, but each to their own. Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Personally I can't gel with a nervous dog and training/entering and living with such a dog is a ball ache.......... Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
My greyhound bitch was very nervous when she arrived 2 yrs ago, i simply crated her & sat by the cage on the floor & offered her food from my hand ... i did this for weeks & she eventually started to gain confidence... the thing is she is now a confident little bitch that i wouldn't be without & has a sunny disposition Having said that my bitch still has problems when i walk her down the gulley to get to the main road .. it has a bend in it & she wont walk on the inside & simply walks round to my other side ... i assume she was shoved in the sidings when she raced at some point .. but other than that not a great deal phases her now Good luck with the dog mate Quote Link to post

From your comments, you're clearly one of those big macho guys who thinks that I'm a woman and therefore must be surrounded by 'lapdogs'...? Or maybe you're not so 'big' and therein lies the problem...? Who knows? Or cares, quite frankly.... My point is, the pup has no confidence NOW....and if you're any sort of decent dogman you'd surely realise this can be rectified. Quote Link to post
