earthdogrunningdog1986 0
I went for a little mooch to check a rabbit set in some woodland near my house just to see if my new polecat gill would go down the hole cause this was the first time she's been shown a rabbit set and she went straight down the hole no messing about then I heard squeeling and my ferret was fighting [bANNED TEXT] a rat then bolting 1 or 2 lol there were no rabbits in the set just rats is this a common thing with unused setts? StephOC 6
One of my jills bolted a rat in the spring from a little warren that I'd had rabbits out of previously. She bolted one that ran off down the slope and then got hold of another just as it popped its head through the purse net. I was so worried that it would turn round and hurt her - I tried to help, but she had hold of it and kept dragging it back down the tunnel, it all eyes and teeth screeming between me and her! I widened the tunnel, reached further in and knoched it on the head with a long metal net peg (they're old barn roofing pins, so not small!) I pulled her out, still holding the dead rat, put her on the ground for a second and she bloody shot back down again and bolted another one. My dog gave chase, but he's not great. I worry about my ferrets, so I'd rather they didn't get rats. Quote Link to post
