hare pre ban

Recommended Posts

I have heard a lot of people talking about their old dogs and say she was just a bit to small for hare.

Has anyone on here had a dog under 23 tts that caught hare pre ban? was it just a one off or did the dog catch them often?

Seen a 22" bitch kill hares on the fens, not a match dog but could kill 2 or 3 every time out. Mike.

youd win a good few matches if shed killet 2 out of 3 every time!

theres been some good little dogs i think the stanlys bitches were small and i herd real good. but a good big urn beats a good smallern by rights. which is real handy as all mine made under 25

The mother to my old bitch at 22tts was a noted hare killing bitch she was out of the small caithness whippet type lurchers put to a good lamp dog of pedigree unknown.[bANNED TEXT] travelars stole her in the early 90s they ran her were she killed 2 out of 3 hares and they couldent keep their mouths shut wich led us to finding were she was and getting her back.

My bitch killed a fair few on the lamp last season in big fields and after long runs, she under twenty two, beddy whippet collie grey, not a coursing dog by any means but does well for her size.

any dog will catch them on the lamp once u knock them of there course leave them alone

Well what if I'm out lamping and I want a hare to make a pie etc why shouldn't I let my dog catch one for me, or should I buy a one that's been shot. What do you mean buy knock them off their course.?

i agree mate , i do only lamp work my dog 21tts had 21 this season on the lamp and on a few sunnday morning walks this season he managed 5 off same land , i seen all sorts of crosses struggle with night time hare , some night time runs on a fit hare isnt as easy as it sounds mate if people only hunt night time they should be able to run what they like alot of the so called "hare" dogs would struggle night time with the smaller lurchers on rabbits day time running isnt the end all and be all of this sport.
