Yokel Matt 918
Here are a few pics of the boiled out head taken last Saturday morning I’m conscious about giving the wrong impression as I’m not a trophy hunter in any way, shape or form… having said that I never thought I’d have the good fortune to come across a buck like this and I’d like to know peoples opinions on where you think he sits in the medal category. First – the buck in all his glory: The ‘wet weight’ or at least the weight after an afternoon draining was 715 grams. His current weight, as of five minutes ago is 684 grams. For comparison pursoses, and without wanting to come accross as a smug prick, this is him next to a buck taken in early May this year which is currently 522 grams. 1 Quote Link to post

mj robson 8
Very nice buck, should dry out to about 650g. My guess is a gold of about 138cic. let us know how you get on with it. Cheers, Mark. Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Cheers gents Mark - CIC scores are a mystery to me... is that borderline? I’ll be sure to keep you up to date Quote Link to post
wireviz 8
That head will make gold not border line at all. (600 and an averge head is border line ) 650 is a really good buck well done. I have a gold that was 600 gram and made 130.7 but its still a gold and it wasnt high scoring on the others areas like colour pearling etc. Quote Link to post
mj robson 8
Local, 130 is the lower limit for Gold so yours should make it no problem at all. I put a head in to get measured at Scone this year, it weighed 644g and made 139cic. It had slightly better coronetts than yours and scored for span (yours looks a bit too wide), but they are much the same. The weight and volume are the high scoring parts. Well done. Cheers, Mark. ps, There's nothing wrong with being a trophy hunter! It's just the norm not to admit it. Edited August 4, 2010 by mj robson Quote Link to post

wireviz 8
Just put it in an out side shed for the 90 days send it to Mr Prior and it will go gold i am sure of that no point pissing about trying to get weight to stay on it wont happen the mosture is in the bone and once dry can be put back at all. Also the CIC /or BASC chap will just leave it on his radiator for a day to see if there is a change. ps dont colour it or mess at all it will olny take points off. Quote Link to post
