matmorgan 49
my bess has made a sound recoveryfrom the sheperd that bit her and i have been letin her run around the field in the morning and out with me on the mountainbike in the evening.she is doing 5.5 miles at a steady trot.when back she is only slightly panting and i wind her down in the park were she proceeds to roast my spaniel and generally run around as if i had just let her out.she is coming up 10 months old.could i be doing more bike work with her or should i tone it down cos she is still relativly young.she seems to do it all no problem.she gets plenty of grub both raw meat and complete meal.but she dont drink much water?????.any advice would be great.just want her to be in first class condition for catchin dem peski wabbits!. .atb.mat Quote Link to post

stroller 341
I know how you feel mate i like the bike for bringing on the dogs fuitness but i never know whats enough, i have a big gundog that i worry im pushing too hard but the bugger just comes back for more. lurchers just eat the road work, they can go on all day. 10 months is young but i suppose it depends on her breeding and physical maturity, i had my little bitch out on the bike at that age she coped fine Quote Link to post

matmorgan 49
she is a bit young to be fully roaded IMO for what reason.no offence.just like to know what you think. Quote Link to post
Tiff 36
the body is still maturing, joints still young, a couple of miles is one thing, but too much on a young dog is not good. About a year is more ideal IMO so she's not too far off Quote Link to post

runforyourlife 361
Its fine what your doing, and if the dog is fit and looking good, then so be it... The water thing, what kind of dogs is she? My salukix drinks very little water at all. even after a few good hard runs... Yet she is still ready to go at every opurtunity. Quote Link to post
