Rik 49
My 12wk old Patt bitch is a little bast**d,Ive never come across this before in a pup of this age,its not a normal pup so to speak it totally ignores all forms of communication like whistle,s/squeaks hand claps and even it name,at 1st I thought it was deaf but thats not the case done severl tests and the little responds to a squeaky toy,its food bowl rattling etc,it just wont come when you call it,it just runs straight passed me or acts like Im not even in the garden All the pups Ive had in the passed have all been puppies if you know what I mean seeking your attention and approval all the time but this one is not interested in my attention or anything has anyone else had or got a pup like this and could this be a big problem in the future Quote Link to post

NBW Terrier 16
but this one is not interested in my attention will hunt for itself and not for you. Just my 2 cents. (I personally dislike this kind of 'lonely hero' behaviour) Quote Link to post
Guest busterdog
Take it for a walk where it's never been before, you'll be the only thing it knows and will follow you. I get the odd one or two like that, i personaly like them, hard to nick and they tend to get on with the job instead of coming out to see where you are. Quote Link to post
willum 89
got a jrt excactly the same mate even from a pup only wanted to know you when you had food or rattled the bowl wouldnt come when called walks past even if you went down to touch it obstinant little shite. but if it responds to the food bowl its food motivated so try a little re call training with food involved call it and shake the food bowl may work for ya did me. but the pup is still young give it time they try the patience of a saint when young. atb willum. CarraghsGem 92
Take it for a walk where it's never been before, you'll be the only thing it knows and will follow you. I get the odd one or two like that, i personaly like them, hard to nick and they tend to get on with the job instead of coming out to see where you are. as above but play hide + seek, let the pup walk on ahead and sidestep behind a bush etc, so the pup panics and looks for you, if it doesnt find you within a short time step back out into view again + call the pup. after a while the pup should learn to stick close to you. did this a lot with my very stubborn independant parson as a pup. she got the idea + became a very mannerly dog Quote Link to post
Guest AngelicAcid
Thats a stubborn side that you want mate, hopefully it will learn to come for you, but also not leave the quarry when older. Quote Link to post
