All of those rifles will be a bit too big and heavy for a girl of 6 - even though they're what we would consider to be lightweight rifles- and they should all be around the 11ft lbs mark.

I'd suggest something like a Gamo Cadet as a first rifle, very light weight, power of about 7 ft lbs.

BSA Meteor in .177, It was my 1st gun, I still have it, although its going to get a winter project'refresh'.

Very good on targets and plenty of power for hunting at short ranges, plus they are nice and light.

The XL's a small, light, full power springer but if you want something she can grow with, it'll have fallen to bits by the time she's ten. Dreadful build since they moved production to Spain some years back.

The Webley's the better gun by far but I can't see a 6 years old lass manageing with it too well.

I'd go with the above Benjamin or Cadet. Much better for a young 'un.

Cheers.

Edit... Webley are built by Hatsan these days...

I'd say your average six year old would seriously struggle to handle any of those big old beasts you've asked about. Even the lighter weight ones will be too much because of the strong recoil on a full power springer. Getting a full size/full power rifle is likely to end up with her struggling to shoot it straight and ending up getting thoroughly peed off with it and giving up. A smaller, lighter, less kicky rifle will mean she can get good results, and be more likely to stick with it and move on to one of the bigger rifles when she can handle it.

Just my opinion, and like I said, your average 6 year old. Last thing you wanna do is put the poor kid off before she's really got into it!

Are you sure that you want to get your 6 year old a gun, i'm not against young people shooting and i'm only 16 but thinking back to when i would have been that age. I would'nt of been able to hold one and definately not shoot one, would'nt it be better to use yours on targets under close guidance and supervision. Its a nice thought but not really too sensible
