i am new to hunting life and a rabbit and rat man

i am new to the hunting life and am tottally a rabbit and rat man using dogs my lurcher collie whippet bedlington brings rabbits back live to hand and unmarked.yet kills rats instantly.she seems to differenciate.my friend refuses to take his whippet ratting as he believes it will make her hard mouthed is he correct,and my bitch an eception,or does it depend on the breed of dog,?am i right in thinking that a small splash of collie enhances the brains

i think and this is only my opinion(you have to say that on here before you reply or your dead)if the dog took rats from the start it would be hard mouthed on rabbits,if vice versa i think that dogs soon learns the difference between quarry with teeth and those without,yes there is always an exception to the rule,yes i know rabbits got teeth but you know what i mean lol,had many a fox dog over the years that always retrieved rabbits live to hand that were obviously started on them first :thumbs:
