what do you carry when out walking??

Recommended Posts

following on from another thread about first aid kits it got me wondering what people carry when out?

i spend a lot of time well off the beaten track, just me and the dog.

i got a small ex forces rucksack, it lives in the hall and i just pick it up on way out

i carry a small first aid kit

good knife

goretex bivi bag- folds into racksack liner as a back protector

maps of area, compass and gps, the gps a bit of a hobby and i trying to learn how to use it...

dog whistle

small torch

lighter

binoculars

water bottle

may seem a bit extreme to some but when your miles from nowhere and got no phone signal it could be of use...

what do you carry?

cheers

Don't know where you are mate, but I'm in Snowdonia, I can be in the mountains, on my own in winter, a couple of hours away from the nearest road, flying my birds. All I take is the stuff I need for the birds and a phone and I'm 58 years old. So I've got to ask, where Are you ?
