Black eyed white

Recommended Posts

Hi does anyone know where I can get a black eyed white (i mean pure white not a light silver) jill kit from? I live in kent. I have been looking for a couple of years and cannot find one. Any help much appreciated. I am only interested in trying to get some of the more unsual colours into the working field, as there seems to be a split between the colours between pet/show and working animals which surely is wrong.

How is it wrong to have a split? There were good working ferrets for years and years and decades and decades and everyone was quite happy with their ferret being an albino, or a poley or maybe a sandy. But then one day some folk decided that they wanted 'prettier' ferrets and so it all began. Mind you i ended up with a silver jill that's a cracking worker, but she won't get bred off.

I got my bew jill of some guy up in middlesbourgh, shes whiter than white altho i did get told by some old timer that theres no such thing as a white white one and they all had/have some sort of black hairs on them, she will be getting put into some light work this winter seens she will still only be young, theres plenty of folk out there working all types of colours of ferrets, its not the colour its how they work and where they come from that counts.

forgot to put check preloved and petsclassifide theres loads and loads on just thos two sites.

Glad to see I have stirred up some interest. I just wanted to make the point that as has already been pointed out the colour does not matter. It just seems to me that the pure show fraternity (I use the word pure with caution) are trying to breed so many colour variations that we may loose sight of what the ferret is really all about a working/pet. I have also heard many old timers say that all these variations are diluting the real working instinct. I would just like to try a few variations to see if they are as good a working animal as the albino and polecat.

Happy discussions
