kyescott 3
what,s the best cross you have seen taking deer?pre ban Over the years iv'e had various crosse's that would do the job, if you want a dog that run's them down quick & finishe's them quick single handed with minimum carcass damage salukixgrey bullxgrey is the one for the job in my opinion. hound dog 19
There are quite a few different mix's of lurcher that are good at the job some better than others. The good ones make it look incredably easy the bad make a meal out of it!!!! Practice makes a decent dog into an excellent one that knows its job and excells at it. Quote Link to post
stormrider8 59
Seen some real good dogs on them all with different breeding but only ever seen one cross do the real big stuff regular.. Bull cross Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
More about the dog than the x - people are always looking for the 'best cross' for this or that. Aye there are going to be some really good bullx or collx that do it, but that doesn't make all collie x or bull x suitable or able to do the job well. When people talk about the 'best' they are just talking about the best DOG or DOGS they have seen. Just like if someone has seen a shit bullx on this site then they must all be shit etc etc etc And there have been some cracking beddy x on here and now that what everyone wants etc. Obviously for the big game you want to hedge your bets with something 'strong, fast and determined' - but like everything else - jut find a pup from the best mating you can where the parents roughly fit this description. . . . . collie/grey 238
A good pre ban deer dog imo is one that has been shown enough to know what it's doing and to do it well. I don't think there is a 'bset' cross. Quote Link to post
