dogs and ferrets

hi all after some advice on introducing my 12 week old puppy to the ferrets, ive all ways had running dogs and ferrets but never worked them together, i want to work this pup with my ferrets, she is 12 weeks old and ive got a couple of 10 week old ferrets, what would be the best way to safely introduce them with out having any trouble, all comments welcome, thanks paul

I do the same usually just put a small bowl down and let the dog and ferrets eat out of it.

depends on the dog,my little terrier just needed a good firm no and she has never touched one yet,infact she enjoys playing with them,this is her meeting this years new arrivals

this pup was used to them feeding from her bowl so again took to them with no probs at all

i also have a bullx that will kill them on sight,so not all good news

good advice rabbitt reaper, iv done the same with a bull cross that got given off a friend that took a sheep once, in the end i had it eaten out of the same bowl as me goat

Just let them get on with it, the monkeys won't care much about your pup. As watchman said a firm no should be enough.

my col whip got nipped by mates ferret when was pup, good as gold with them moves out there way whe come real close, but my whip x grey pup since had her just lies there in garden with ferret running over her not paying any attention, have got a pic of her on mrs mob asleep with a ferret asleep on her at about 5 months old, try get it up! think best way is to give little bowl milk together drink out of and let pup see ferret running in and out of pipes!

just let them out together if the pup gets a bit to rough a sharp off should do it.

this is my 8 week colly x with my 2 10 week old kitts.

ive a great vid on my mobile where my first ever ferret was playing with my boxer x lab pup, needless to say the pup got a bit too rough with the ferret + he bit the pup on the mouth, pup was much more respectful after that. lol

cheers for the replys, shes a collie/grey x deerhound/grey, was born here so has all ways seen the ferrets just never out of there cage, will let you no how it goes cheers paul
