it could be both for me bd maybe something you had and look on as the backbone to what you keep :good:

for me it was my fisrt border terrier, i got him from ron hillcote,in 1988,some lads kept saying they were no good to ground, well this dog started working at 12mts, it was a vixen and cubs, so i kept him off untill the winter and he never looked back,he was also a first class hedging dog he would hunt all day long,he was a dog that just wanted to work, he was,nt interested in brock untill he was 5yrs old then i had to keep an eye on him, at the time i had a lurcher from hancox and the three of us had some good sport, he was also a good looker, at the time i was showing him a bloke named bill brockly had adog called taggart, it was usually him or me,working fox he started off baying, then as he got wiser he would only bay 3-4 times then take hold till i got to him, rocky was the dog that has kept me working border terriers since 88

Good post dave, it's nice to give credit where it's due. Bill Brockly, thats a name i haven't come across in many years, G mousley owes Bills dogs a lot and there was no end of it around here when i was a kid, i cut my teeth with them.

The best dog I have ever had was a dog called chilli . He was a big dog but fair play too him as he always got there in the end . He was put in places where dogs had failed @ come up trumps . I can honestly say from 2 onwards he never failed good honest dog .A dog I wish I had back in my kennels .

Best dog I've ever worked/seen work was a mates Middleton bred Lakeland. PTS a couple of years ago he was supposedly bred from a dog called Zeb I think. Very hard dog who destroyed foxes & knew how to control game without taking too much abuse bearing in mind how hard he was. His last dig he lost most of his armoury to a little vixen in a tight place which ended his career at the age of 10. Had some cracking days with him, never needed more than one hole. If he caught the game mid tube there was no need to hurry as it was going nowhere no matter how long we took. He could turn a long dig into a short one, RIP Digger
