Ello lads, just trying to get a bit of chat going and break up the monotomy of pup threads etc

it seems a lot of you lads are well travelled with a good few years under your belt and are very knowledgable when it comes to history, lines etc,are there any dogs that stand out for you as greats, dogs that were instrumental in passing on what we have today.

or maybe theres old dogs youve had in the past you owe it all to ?

it could be both for me bd maybe something you had and look on as the backbone to what you keep :good:

In that case it would have to be Toby, he's the first dog i had from Stevens lines all those years ago. I did plenty of digging and had what i thought were good dogs but every now and again along comes a dog that changes your veiws and the direction in which you go. He not only was second to none at his work but he produced dogs of the same caliber.

PS he was also very pleasing to the eye.

ok mate, i looked through your old posts, but cant see them anymore.

are they all ns foundation?

Nick didn't breed my first dog Rommo did, but that said they were from Nicks original stuff. Toby was the best terrier i've ever seen from Nicks line, i got caught up in all the showbiz and almost let his line die out, i'm trying to rectify that mistake as i go along. Theres a dog in Ludlow who's his grandson, he's ten year old and still being dug to.

Picture of a picture but you'll get the idea

for me it was my fisrt border terrier, i got him from ron hillcote,in 1988,some lads kept saying they were no good to ground, well this dog started working at 12mts, it was a vixen and cubs, so i kept him off untill the winter and he never looked back,he was also a first class hedging dog he would hunt all day long,he was a dog that just wanted to work, he was,nt interested in brock untill he was 5yrs old then i had to keep an eye on him, at the time i had a lurcher from hancox and the three of us had some good sport, he was also a good looker, at the time i was showing him a bloke named bill brockly had adog called taggart, it was usually him or me,working fox he started off baying, then as he got wiser he would only bay 3-4 times then take hold till i got to him, rocky was the dog that has kept me working border terriers since 88
