patterdale 10 months old just sitting down burrow

i had my patterdale pup out the other day,and he went to go to ground but he just sat down the hole for half an hour i didnt encourcage the dog or anything to go on ahead but i thought this very strange,has any 1 else had a dog do this????any comments would be apperciated. thanks

my brothers terrier used to do that mate when we took it ferreting, it used cower in the holes, that was around the same age the more it went out the more confident it got now its a crackin lil dog if thats any help :thumbs:

cheers for that binks,because i was going to put him down becuase i have seen another lads terrier sitting down holes huffing.if any body eles has anything else to help me on the way would be much apperciated thanks.

Couldnt agree more. Dogs mature at different rates, an yours is still a pup.

cheers boys i didnt want him to enter at all untill he was at least 14 months old,but he was running off the lead along with the lurcher and she marked the hole and then he lay down it about 2 foot,it really confused me cuz im only in terriers a couple of years and all the terriers i had i bought them already working anything i did buy,and i never seen a pup doing that be4,thats why i wnted to ask you more experanced hunters too see what youes thought,that has really helped geers lads.
