OldNog 432
Im thinking of doing the SIA course to do a bit of security work inbetween building jobs to keep the money coming in. Couple of lads at the boxing club do it now and then and recon its good money to be had. Has anybody done it and what was the course like? cheers
BIG-KEIRAN 0
when i done it mate it was a four day course and an exam on the 5th day you sit in a room with a tutor explaining everything to you and he gives you two booklets and you highlight what he tells you to. alot of it is about law it is more for a bouncer than a security guard hope this helps. its a bit pricey though and you need to purchese the licence afterwords which is an extra 250 pounds BIG-KEIRAN
readie 184
if your doing sia course do the door supervisor one,it covers door staff and security work, one of my brothers did course last month as hes unemployed it was free.the actual course he ended up doing had fcuk all to do with security he completed a maths and english course to get is badge. iguanaman2442 0
Yeah i have my SIA the course is easy to be honest. Can get really boring as its that easy (or should i say i found it easy). Money wise it depends what job you get if you get on the doors you can earn anything between £10-£20 an hour depending on where you are and experience mate. But if your just thinking sitting on a site doing fu** all its crap money i know thats what i do. The license aint cheep i cantt remember how much mine cost as i have had it just over 3 years now also you have to renew it after 3 years. Another thing to think about is very few security companys will give you a fixed hour contract. They use 0 hour contracts so that if they dont have work for you then they dont pay you anything. The one 8,473
The course is a peace of piss 4 days sitting watching dvds and multiple choice booklets and role playing same with the exam multiple choice questions you got a one in four chance of passing it . We did it for work them found out it doesn't apply to us . but now we have the ticket we can work the doors on our off days
littletimmy 71
On mine i think we done two tests, you would have to have some serious issues to fail them, even if you did they let you take them again with the next group. I've never used my badge though
troter58 1,711
yes lad its a so easy to do as the lads have said on here and if you get on with a firm they will put you through it all and you pay them back so much each week i have just had mine renewed and i dont have to pay any thing so long as i stay with my firm 6 months all the best troter

Night Hunter 109
Ive done mine to work in the clubs and I've just renewed it again, found it easy as I've been in the industry for about 22 years on and off, when I was finished my exam I was asked to sit in as a witness while the tutor explained the questions to the Polish guys that were on the course,If you can read and understand english and have good common sense then you will have no problems mate everything is clearly explained.
