First Water Retrieve

Recommended Posts

Got a new farm to add to my permission and it holds a nice Lake / pond with a large number of Geese which the farmer wants gone ASAP, most are Greylag which will have to waite until September, but until then its picking off a few Canadas that will be keeping the farmer happy.

So i have been doing some water training with fern over the last few weeks but she has never retrieved warm game from the water and i di think what she would make of a big Canada.

So after checking it out with the BASC me and Pointer off this site had a look down with the dog for a look about.

Pics are not the best sorry

What a time for the batteries to go, you can just make out the little dog with a big bird

What are they all looking at

Well she did realy well and with everything she dose she retrieved the birds keenly, so another notch on the side of her kennel.

I think i might try and eat the next squirrel we get.I still see them as rats with bushy tails though so i need to push that thought from my mind before i stick it in my mouth :D

Ferns doing well

Hey Pointer. Fox and Grey squirrels are tasty. Be sure to give them a few minutes in the pressure cooker first.

Thanks for all the replys.

She is coming on well and whether she is retrieveing from water, hunting up rabbits for the gun or bushing with Terriers and Lurchers like last night she is making a versatile hunting dog, so i am well chufft at the minuet.
