Fat-Ferret 857
Try pegging your end poles...put a fine rope or cord onto the actual end poles and pull it out tight and onto a peg in the ground. Failing that, pm peg&gun on the website, he will help you. Its a good problem to have though!! Quote Link to post

danman 27
could try double pegging the net seen it the book peg to peg it says it makes the net stonger Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
Think i'd try lamping it with the rimmy take a good few off it and mop up the rest with the nets Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Try leaning your setting pegs slightly towards where the rabbits are hitting from this often helps if a lot of rabbits are hitting at one point in the web..........as they often do at the major rabbit run points. This is usually where multiple runs all join up to one main run shortly before entering cover. Quote Link to post
perthshire keeper 1,239
many thanks for the helpfull replys, it has given me food for thought. i dont have a .22 so thots out and the .17 is a bit to loud and this place is too close to houses and roads. yes i have a bit of exsperience with nets i ahve been longnetting since i was 11 in the daylight and 15 for night work why do people need to put a downer on others? would you tell woodga or PandG they cant snare no, so bugger off! activeviii 8
lean pegs at 45 towards the field, rabbit gets in deeper and pegs hold better. you might struggle to get more in net as its the bagging amount. my nets are 2:1 2 mtr net for ever meter on line. you could always set nets out in field a little more and then back them up behind with a second net across the hot spots. I would offer you a hand if i was closer to you. Phil. Quote Link to post

OK so your profile says your all of 19 activeviii: I set my nets with the poles at 45 towards the hedge ie away from the field in the understanding that the rabbits are over the footline before their nose touches the net, they panic and try to turn entangling themselves IME Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
I don't know if he has kissed the blaney stone or swallowed it. But a mate up in Pershire has told me it is lifting with rabbits in places. From his other posts he seems to have a grasp of how to longnet, a lot of what he has written is oh so true. He could have gleaned that off of any forum of course, but if he has, he has remembered well. There does seem to be some greeneyed monsters lurking on the forum these days looking for things to pounce on and riddicule. If he is catching those numbers then good luck to him I say. If he is not, does it really matter? If he is getting those numbers and having trouble with the net holding them. I would do as Leeview has stated, angle your pegs away from the field. Bant the field very slowly without a banting cord, that way the rabbits will not bolt into the net they will hop in front of you and will be tangled by the feet mostly, rather than hitting the net at speed. If you think about it if a rabbit that weighs 2lb is hitting a net next to a peg at say 20mph there is a hell of a force on that peg. However, if the same rabbit ambles into the net there is hardly any pressure on the peg. TC Edited July 28, 2010 by tiercel Quote Link to post
