just wondering when you think your dog or dogs are the at the peak for example age....how many kills ...seasons underneath his or shes belt ,how long to think when a dogs is at peak can stop their for,or does it come with age and knowledge are the game they,ve have work on for years ,its in their brain they never lose it just in the body not in the brains ,just like us humans lol do you think it will be their body will let them down in the end......cheers lads and lasses all comments welcome

1st season is the warm up, 2nd is where they hone their technique and prove themselves on different quarry so the best years IMO are 3-6 provided they dont get any serious injuries, most dogs that are worked hard start to wane around the 7/8 year mark, speed can start to go a bit but a clever dog will still catch a lot of stuff using its brain and the experience gained during those years.

thanks lads ,just as my bitch is 6 in april and was hopeing not to retire her till she drops or by a serious injury she has,nt loss anything yet her drive is their ,she has knowledge of the game and head ,brillant field craft ,thanks for all your comments everything has been taken on board

most dogs seem to peak in the summer at the shows, there catch rate goes straight into the thousands and theres nothing alive that they cant kill with ease 4, 5 , 6 nights a week........

when would you say your dog is complete ,when it has had how many season ,the bundies of game has caught,vary if prey,just what would make your complete dog,just my bitch is nealy 6 and i,ve work her every season hard and she done every thing and any think ,shes had no major injurys and i was wondering if had the complete dog yet or can it better ,because it has done so proud ,and is 1 of the best bitches i,ve seen round my way.

my dog has been tested all its life and come up trumps ,how can push your dog harder ,where is the limit,will your dog let you know were the limit is ,all these questions are just for more knowledge of the game and to try make me a better dog man,and to but i,ve learned with my first dog into my 2nd and 3rd
