lurchergrrl 1,441
Travellers were determined my Borzoi had EBT in the mix. Only breed the long nose could have come from. Or folks ask if she is a long coated grey. The saluki/grey is often mistaken as clever. Would that be The Mentalcase? He IS clever, in an autistic sort of way Quote Link to post
Lab 10,979
Mostly Irish Wolfhound( vaguely understandable as she is a d/hound x)but my favourite was with my old bitch (similar x) when I was visiting my sister in Glasgow - overgrown rat!!!! Obviously highly offended but definately the funniest so far... Since she was small she's been mistaken for an old boy, and yes, had all those "pedigree lurcher" conversations too...mad old lady with excessively fat lab occasionally shouts "skinny bitch" at us in the street as well.... Thats an awful thing to say about your sister............ Quote Link to post

nat 8
Many years ago ex wife was bottle feeding a goat kid (not my idea) Because it was on 4 hourly feeds had to take it with us to a show. You would be surprised (or perhaps not) how many lurcher boys, complete with tattoos and earrings, asked if the dog (goat) had saluki in it. Quote Link to post

Scruffy 6
Nope, but he looks a great dog to me! I took my 10 month old pup (the one on the left) out for a walk on his own on Saturday to put in some extra basic training. As we walked down a bridleway three youths 15 ish were coming the other way, my dog went up to them tail wagging and one of the lads seriously said to me “is he a Great Dane?†I was speechless and just carried on walking thinking what a thick t*4t. I quite often get asked if he is a Greyhound or Whippet or if she is a hairy Greyhound or a Deer Hound but a Great Dane takes the biscuit. I know I should have put him straight but I was really shocked. ALSO Is it me or do you also get that someone with a Labrador or similar asking “what sort of dogs are they†“Lurchers†“Look a bit like Greyhounds to me†“YEP they do don’t they, see ya†My wife still spends 10 minutes trying to explain what a Saluki/Grey x Beddy x bitsa is. He doesn't look like a Great Dane does he????? Quote Link to post
