started to attack other dogs

Took the 4/5 month old Patt pup for a walk to day just round the park so to speak and he started to pull on his lead and start barking and growling at other dogs,anyhow after a while he settled down so I let him off for a run, a women came along with a cocker spaniel and the pup went straight into it,I had to pull him off and pick him up there was no damage done and I apologised to the lady,he is around other dogs all the time at home and up the farms and he's never like that when his hunting.

 

What do you reckon could this become a problem or shall I just not take him to the park

I would still take him to the park Maybe if you let him have a go on the swings he will be distracted from attacking other dogs

sounds like he is protecting you, perhaps a little firm obedience training in the park will familiarise him with the enviroment + remind him that you not he are the alpha.

wants a bit of firm handling and a slapped arse get it done now pal while its young or you will have a devil with it when its older dont go to hard on it though and ruin its confidence sometimes your voice in a certain manner is enough if not a couple of sharp slaps should see it right at that age

I have a bitch pup she will be a year in sep. She has recently taken a very dislike to my other russle bitch. Its a bit of pain as i am having to make sure the two of them are away from each other at all times but the funny thing is when had them out working (pup watching before any one jumps to the wrong idea) they get along fine. make sure the pup nows your the boss theres good and bad things with dogs attacking bad ones is it will attack somet harder like a lurcher and get shook to death my dog terrier starts with its self i leave it to get on with you wana work your terrier its not a problem in my eyes there used as tools single handed in a box in a earth just shit when you wana nip park ha ha keep it on a lead in future and when its old enough show it sumet hard that will test its anger but what i suggest is give it a belt with a stick it will soon relise who is boss

if you want him to seriously stop going after dogs take him to a park thats packed with people walking there dogs,keep him on a lead and only let him sniff them,if his tail is wagging then his fine to let him go and sniff,if its not then just keep walking.that should get him better with other dogs.But they do need a good hiding before they start to listen to you.

 

Mine was still attacking dogs up untill it was about 5.never socialised him with other dogs much.he was good with our jack and a couple of other dogs but that was it.

 

But if its a pup a smack should do it.
