What scope for low light level?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

What is a good scope for low level hunting? early morning, evening.

I currently have a cheap Hawke on my HW100S, daytime good, low light poor.

I mainly hunt rabbits and squirrels and like fixed magnification scopes for my Air Rifle, have looked through magazines but they all claim to be the best!

Any advice welcome

Thanks

John...

Hi, mate.

I'm like you, I prefer a fixed mag but no one seems to do any good ones anymore for airguns.

I've used lots and until it fecked up a little while back, I'd been more than very pleased with the Walther 4-12x50 30mm that I'd been useing for the last couple of years.

TBH and this has really surprised me, the little JSR 2-7x32 I put on my HW90 while the Walther was being fixed has performed just as well when the light starts to fail. I know this shouldn't be the case 'cos of it's small 32mm lense but it really does work very well.

I've another Walther 3-9x56 on my AA410c and an EB 6x44 on my Xocet, a Luger 3-9x42 on my RWS52 and the JSR matches them when the light starts to go. Maybe I've got funny eyes.

Cheers.

Edit.... I'm not saying the JSR's the best scope for low light, just that it's really surprised me as to how well it works...

Hello All,

Just been looking at the Mamba Lite website and reviews.

It looks good for Air Rifle hunting, optics look very good, anyone used one?
