olim 28
i use premiers the flat with a point head ones and the point ones, they seem to do the job fine and have been using them for ages, I was trying to get some logun penetrators as they are meant to be good but the local gun shops dont have them in 177, do people rate these well? just found this site of all pellets: http://www.photosbykev.com/wordpress/2009/01/20/air-rifle-pellet-database/ , seems very interesting, especially the one that is in two pieces Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Gaoler. I was using JSB Exacts in my HW100, to good effect, but then moved on to AA Fields, even better result's. Both good quality pellets very malable Much prefer the softer skirted pellets, gives a better seal in the barrel when it get's that blast of air up its jacksie ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
That's also a valid point, 12ft is not the best for penetration and fragmentation of the pellet and also the range has a big affect as well and renders fragmentation next to useless on distant shots!! But as long as you get penetration then fragmentation will do more damage than penetration alone... I wasn't trying to compare a handgun to a airgun, I was trying to set the scene, and explain the theory of penetration and fragmentation, (badly) but obviously on a lot smaller and less power scale... In sub 12's pellets do not fragment or crush up and expand unless you are shooting at something solid like a steel target or a block of concrete. The OP seemed worried about over penetration at close ranges? Even lighter pellets in lower powered rifles will over penetrate at close enough range. For example I used my HW40 (2.3ft/lbs) using an Eley Wasp .177 close range on a bunny in one side of its skull, through the brain and out the other side. It will happen and if you place the pellet in the correct spot, the quarry aint going to get anywhere nearer to his place of safety than the last nerve impulses will let it. polecat84 1
Forget super H points chaps. They are poo. Get on the superdome. But, if you hit 'em right it doesn't matter what you hit them with. I have shot more than my fair share with the old 'domes. They hold their tragectory well.. i rate rws superdomes aswell as aa field logun penetrators ain't bad either. Quote Link to post
