savage gear lures

Recommended Posts

apart from not wanting to loose any gear, :hmm: why would you want to fish with line so heavy ???? if thats the case tighten you're drag up as hard as you can and just reel every fish straight in. nearly pulling the head off it in the proceeds.:doh: i was always a fan off fishing with light tackle, that way you're getting the ultimate fight and feel of all the action.... IMO.. if such lures are too expensive that you have to resort to drastic measures like this not to loose them, then just buy cheaper lures... ;)

Quite simply because i use big jerk baits on that rod/reel for big fish, these require a strong line to prevent crack offs and enable the lure to be pulled out of snags :wallbash: Try reading up on jerkbait fishing before you start critising :feck: I've yet to find a snag i couldn't move with that braid and rod i use  i have other rods for light line fishing, i love catching small or big fish on light line but you try fishing a big jerkbait on light gear, you just can't do it  I have lures that cost 20 quid or more...bet if you lost a few of those you would soon see the appeal of strong gear. One of my best lures cost only 2 quid though

What a load of crap!! i have over 3grands worth of lures! I'll take you to some emovable snags pal, snags that if they grab your anchor you'l lose it!! Most good lure cost over 2oquid! And heavy gear is 80lb! its 40lb+... I guide novices on my boats, and there are many many times they snag the lures. Its a fact of pike angling mate or what ever you use them for....I have taken pike to 56lb(sweden) pal, and they dont use that kind of gear there..... And why anyone would have to read up on "jerkbaiting" is beyond me, its one of the most simple lure fishing ways there is......... :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

P.s, i'd have a bash at marlin with line like that and land them....

:boogie: 56lb well good for you! Bet you were wanking over that for a while :notworthy:

I don't do trolling over rocky areas like you do, but any large snag that can't be easily moved BENDS the hooks straight where i fish(gravel pits rivers and canals) Like i have already said i have lighter gear that i use plenty of times to fish smaller lures.

Now go pick your toys up and put them back in your pram and grow up :boredom:

so i was right from the start... it's all about the price of the lure with you isn't it. :tongue2:

''i have lighter gear that i use plenty of times to fish smaller lures''

runforyourlife seems to fish far more snaggy areas than you. don't you get it???????

the only reason you load you're reels up with 80lb+ braid is because on that combo you have a bulldog or savage type lure that do cost that extra few pounds. it's a sorry state of affairs if you have to resort to such measures just so you're not ''sweating your wee bag off'' worrying about loosing your precious lure...... :feck: but you use lighter gear when fishing with smaller cheaper lures  that says enough for me.. :D

"LOL" Me pick my toys up..... You came on talking fickle shit, tell people not to critise you! And to go read books, lol....it was you who said "I FISH FOR BIG FISH".... It was you who started put the fingers up, and the notworthy signs to someone who only pointed something out, and asked a question...

And as for wanking over that fish, you havent seen my missus obviously.. Only put the weight, to prove to you that stupid lines are not needed,( plus again, you said you fished for "big fish") and when trolling ,gear is tested a lot more than casting a lure about! You showed your mentality with you pram quote at the end pal...

Muddog had you sussed from the beginning... theirs nothing wrong in being tight, or careful with your money and your lures, just take care of your fish pal...

well we will have to disagree then.

casting 3,4 or even 5ounce lures involves more force on the gear than trolling behind a boat, the strike may be more savage when trolling but thats about it. Heavy lures require heavy line to absorb the shock of casting, also should you get an overrun it will prevent a crack off. 3 trebles flying through the air unchecked makes a nasty missile for other water users. I've had to dodge a few crackoffs from people using line thats too light for the weights being used.

Larger fish can be reeled to the bank with a less protracted fight ensuring a stronger fish to release which improves survival, especially in summer with low oxygen levels in some waters. All my hooks are barbless too  Any fish i catch no matter what size gets the utmost respect and careful handling unlike many who fish for them.

By the way mudd dog It's nothing to do with the cost of lures, i have boxes and boxes of them one of the cheapest nastiest looking but best lure i own, as i've said cost me 2 quid. if i was bothered about cost and losing them i would never cast where the fish lie and catch very few pike. Also bigger fish will hit a small mepps just as readily as a large plug or lure depending on what they are feeding on, i've caught plenty nice pike when perch fishing with size 1 or 0 mepps  Runforyerlife seems to fish ROCKY ground, i dont, i fish gravel pits, canals and rivers with very few rocks to trap fish/lures.

lol, i am not even going to bother on this one! 80lb braid for 5 onze lures, lol... So anglers who fish out of a boat just troll all day.... When you find the fish mate, you anchor and hammer! I have been guiding off my boats for nearly 20yrs, i dont need to be told how to cast a lure...

p.s, when fishing for swordys or sailys, we use 12 to 15 onze lures mate..each to there own....... Atb Russ.
